Silver plated cigarette box attributed to A.E.Jones Ltd, circa 1920-1930. The lid of the box has a raised dome and is decorated with a central leaf motif.  The box has a wood liner. The bun feet are typical of A E Jones boxes made from the 1920's onwards.

The underside of the lid has been inscribed with "June 16th 1942". It is likely that this inscription was added some time after the box was made.

Unusually the base of the box is wooden. Also, the base of the box is marked with  the number 1742. This is most likely the pattern number.
