Silvered copper cigarette box attributed to A.E.Jones Ltd, circa 1905-1920. The lid of the box has a raised dome and is decorated with a copper oval ringed with a brass rope. The copper oval has a brass flower shaped central mount. The box is lined with cedar wood and a moveable divider is fitted. The legs and hinges are identical to other A E Jones made boxes.
Unusually the base of the box is wooden. Also, the base of the box is marked with "British Maker", "SC" and the number 2485. The 2485 is most likely the pattern number. SC may be the trade mark for Simplex Conduits who had some designs made by A.E. Jones Ltd in the 1920's.
